About OM

What's OM ?
The essence of the Ultimate Reality. OM or AUM is connected with Third Eye Wheel (refer to Sun God) and Crown Wheel or Brahmahrandhra (refer to Goddes Moon).

OM is a very simple sound with complex meaning. It's the whole Universe coalesced into a single word, representing the union of Body, Mind and Spirit. In Buddhism it's called, Body, Speech and Mind.

OM refers to Atman (soul, self within) and Brahman (ultimate reality, entirety of the universe, truth, divine, supreme spirit, cosmic principles, knowledge).

OM is pronounced as :- AUM.

OM is pronounced as :- AUM.

‘A’ (pronounced as an elongated “awe”) – this sound represents as the beginning, the creation of the universe and everything within it. It has been described as symbolising the ‘consciousness or waking state’. In the Hindu tradition, this sound is associated with Brahma – the Creator. The sound originates in the belly, and vibrates in the upper chest. The tongue stays in the lower part of the mouth and the lips are parted, creating a feeling of openness.

‘U’ (a prolonged “oooh” sound) – this sound signifies the steadiness that carries you along and the energy that preserves and sustains you and the world. It is associated with the Hindu God, Vishnu – the Preserver. From the ‘A’ sound, the lips begin to move together and the sound gradually moves forward, rolling along the upper palate and vibrating in the throat.

M’ (“mmmm” sound) – characterizes the sound of closing in and the beginning of the end. It is associated with Shiva – often known as the ‘destroyer’ but also the force of culmination, completion, finalisation. Here the tongue comes to the top of the mouth and the lips come together to create a protracted humming noise.

The sound of silence. There is also a fourth sound "silence", the residue we are left with once the breath and the sound fades away. Arising from stillness, maintained by steadiness and fading back into silence. Om represents the fact that everything constantly changes, from movement into stillness, from sound into silence, the endless cycle of life.

In Hinduism, OM is called pure Consciousness. In Muslim, OM is called 'Amin'. In Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Jew or Christian, OM is called 'Amen', means : Faithful and true Witness. Ultimately, Om-Amin-Amen : overall all are same meaning : our Creator-Father-Mother, absolute truth, the entirety of the Universe, refer to Soul or Atman.

Lord Buddha's chanting main mantras are : Om Mani Padme Hum, which means :- Lord Buddha had gained Enlightenment by pure Consciousness stage.

OM or AUM = Ultimate reality. Pure Consciousness or Atman
Mani = Jewel or Bead
Padme = Lotus, Buddhist Sacred flower
Hum = The spirit of Enlightenment, pure Consciousness etc.

We're suffering much more in whole life, some less, some more, but non-stop suffering is going on. So, to relief/free from those sufferings, Lord Buddha had created and shown : his Four Noble Truths and Eightfold Noble Paths. We may follow the Guidelines.

Lord Buddha's "Four Noble Truths" and "Eightfold Paths".

Four Noble Truths :-

  • 1 They are the truth of suffering. Means, we're forcefully creating Sufferings. We're the route of Sufferings
  • 2 The truth of the cause of suffering. Means, to create sufferings, it must be some causes/reasons present, as any incident must be a reason.
  • 3 The truth of the end of suffering. Means, after searching the reasons of the route of Sufferings, we must solve our problem, by maintaining "Eightfold Noble Paths" of Lord Buddha". This is the end of suffering. If we follow the Eightfold Paths, no suffering or problems will be creating. 》Means :- to Solve the Suffering, by maintaining Eightfold path.
  • 4 The truth of the path that leads to the end of suffering. More simply put, suffering exists; it has a cause; it has an end; and it has a cause to bring about its end.

In Details "-

  • 1 Suffering Life always involves suffering, in obvious and subtle forms. Even when things seem good, we always feel an undercurrent of anxiety and uncertainty inside. Most of the cause of our suffering is human own route.
  • 2 The Cause of Suffering The cause of suffering is craving and fundamental ignorance. We suffer because of our mistaken belief that we are a separate, independent, solid “I.” The painful and futile struggle to maintain this delusion of ego is known as samsara, or cyclic existence. The cause/reason of Suffering is "Own I, My, Ego" - this's the route. If no I, no My, no Ego, then No suffering will be created in our life
  • 3 The End of Suffering, means :- To solve the suffering by maintaining Eightfold Paths. The good news is that our obscurations are temporary. They are like passing clouds that obscure the sun of our enlightened nature, which is always present. Therefore, suffering can end because our obscurations can be purified and awakened mind is always available to us
  • 4 The Path By living ethically, practicing meditation, and developing wisdom, we can take exactly the same journey to enlightenment and freedom from suffering that the buddhas do. We too can wake up.

Eightfold Paths/Ways :-

  • The Right Understanding
  • The Right Thought
  • The Right Speech
  • The Right Action
  • The Right Livelihood
  • The Right Effort
  • The Right Memory
  • The Right Mindfulness.

Means, we should follow "Right and Positive way" in any situation.

In brief, the eight elements of the path are: (1) correct view, an accurate understanding of the nature of things, specifically the Four Noble Truths, (2) correct intention, avoiding thoughts of attachment, hatred, and harmful intent, (3) correct speech, refraining from verbal misdeeds such as lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, and senseless speech, (4) correct action, refraining from physical misdeeds such as killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct, (5) correct livelihood, avoiding trades that directly or indirectly harm others, such as selling slaves, weapons, animals for slaughter, intoxicants, or poisons, (6) correct effort, abandoning negative states of mind that have already arisen, preventing negative states that have yet to arise, and sustaining positive states that have already arisen, (7) correct mindfulness, awareness of body, feelings, thought, and phenomena (the constituents of the existing world), and (8) correct concentration, single-mindedness.

Then automatically, we can enjoy everlasting Peace and Happiness. Only we will have to look, our regular work activities in positive way.
